SUMMARY:Beyond Earth: A Celestial Odyssey & Cosmic Cycles
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Capital Classical Concerts\nBeyond Earth: A Celestial Odyssey (World Premiere)\nCosmic Cycles: A Space Symphony (Selections) \nIn partnership with NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center\, Capital Classical Concerts and conductor Piotr Gajewski present the world premiere of Henry Dehlinger’s Beyond Earth: A Celestial Odyssey\, a celebration of space exploration and a meditation on the human spirit that drives it. This cinematic-symphonic work traces humanity’s journey beyond our home planet\, from the daring first steps on the Moon to the edges of our interplanetary aspirations. \nThe program also includes selections from Dehlinger’s celebrated 2023 collaboration with  NASA—Cosmic Cycles: A Space Symphony. Lauded by The Washington Post as “a  harmonically rewarding wander through the stars” and “an unexpected emotional punch\,” Cosmic Cycles has captivated audiences in sold-out halls around the globe. \nWith its shimmering orchestrations and breathtaking visuals from the Webb Space Telescope\, this film-with-live-orchestra concert is both a tribute to our past and a call to keep reaching for the stars. \nTickets available here.

SUMMARY:Album Release: The Living Spiritual
DESCRIPTION:Opera lovers are likely to be acquainted with the energetically-expressive baritone of GRAMMY® winner Kenneth Overton. What few might suspect is how aptly Overton navigates a much more intimate form\, the piano-voice duo. On THE LIVING SPIRITUAL\, Overton performs 23 spirituals arranged by 23 living Black composers\, accompanied by pianist Elizabeth G. Hill. \nOne would expect this album to be eclectic\, but the composers exceptionlessly chose to preserve the vibrant essence of the spiritual as a genre. The synergy between Overton and Hill is unmatched: these pieces brim with life and emotion\, impressively expressed with one human voice and one piano alone. \n\n \nAvailable for streaming worldwide on all major digital platforms\, November 14\, 2025. A limited number of physical CDs will also be available to purchase only through American Spiritual Ensemble\, starting on November 14\, 2025.

ANMT will share musical numbers from this work-in-progress. Experience first-hand the development process of a new work. \nPerformances on Sunday\, April 6\, at 3pm and Wednesday\, April 16 at 7pm. SUMMARY:Millennium Stage presents: Raíces Negras
DESCRIPTION:Members of the Raíces Negras chamber music collective celebrate innovative and prominent American women composers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Each work explores an element of nature and the spirits that dwell within\, ranging from the Negro spirituals in Undine Smith Moore’s “Afro-American Suite\,” the motions and gestures of the beach in Tania León’s “Sands of Time\,” a day in the life of the Papua New Guinean rainforest in Elisenda Fábregas’s “Voices of the Rainforest\,” or the avant-garde timbral illusions and mythical imagery of Clarice Assad’s world-premiere commission entitled “Flight of the Fairies.” Within these musical works\, audiences will discover and enjoy the worldly and otherworldly soundscapes these composers can elicit. Featuring flutist Ceylon Mitchell\, cellist Erin Murphy Snedecor\, and pianist Elizabeth G. Hill.
