Great Noise Ensemble presents “Travelogues: Real and Imagined”

Great Noise begins its 2018-19 residency at the Westmoreland Congregational Church of Christ with works of Alexandra Gardner, Marcos Balter, and Armando Bayolo.

The story of Travelogues is a trip through landscapes, people and creatures that may or may not exist. Vixen is Alexandra Gardner’s road trip (literally, as the piece was written for the Grand Valley State University New Music Ensemble’s ongoing tours of our National Parks) through the National Park system; Codex Seraphinianusis Marcos Balter’s take on the eponymous atlas of mythical creatures; and The Books of Bokonon is a musicological tour through the Island of San Lorenzo, from Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle.
